Here are the top 5 tips for the prevention of the main skin issues people face post-workout and skincare routine while working out.

A workout is the best thing to beat your blues, get you in shape, raise the dopamine levels naturally, cure any sleeplessness, and, in short, get all dormant body functions recharged. It also is a wonderful panacea for most skin and hair issues, as it gets the heart pumping blood to all extremities.

WOMEN DOING WORKOUT

The downside is the host of skin issues it can cause that make things uncomfortable. And, of course, no one wants to be seen rubbing and scratching their body while working out. Also, we are sometimes left to deal with problems that show their worst on our faces. Here are the top 5 tips for the prevention of the main skin issues people face post-workout and skincare routine while working out.

1. Acne

The main skin problem we deal with is the sudden surge of perspiration and its related complications. On the face itself, the pores open up to allow for sweat release and cooling. While this is good for skin, normally, if mixed with any impurities like dirt and oils, it can immediately cause clogging of pores and infections, leading to breakouts. This is the main reason why wearing makeup is not advisable during a workout. All such coverage and any residue must be totally removed from the skin before you start the workout. To get completely clear skin, a 2-step cleansing routine is recommended with skincare products.

BIODERMA SENSIBIO MICELLAR WATER

We recommend a gentle face cleanser like a Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water for removing the makeup. (The inventor of the Micellar water, Bioderma can certainly be trusted for all skin types).

BIODERMA FOAMING GEL CLEANSER

Follow this up with a Bioderma Sebium Moussant Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser after a workout to get the cleanest skin cells. This is a non-drying gel-based cleanser that is good for cleaning and soothing skin that ensures oil control after a sweat session.

2. Skin Infection due to transmission

During a workout in a gym, if the perspiration gets too much, we tend to use our towels. Usually, the same towel is used to also wipe down surfaces that others have used before us. When you put this in perspective, it is a no-brainer that we are picking up germs and infections that we are transferring onto ourselves. While this is avoidable, it is also recommended we wipe down all surfaces that we touch during the workout including personal equipment that may contain oil, dirt, or bacteria. At the same time, avoid touching your face with your hands and regular cleaning of sweaty clothes.

We advise you carry around a pack of face wipes that is gentle and cooling on your skin

While effectively keeping your skin clean, it will also help cool down your skin which is much required to prevent any heat rashes.

KARA CLEANSING & HYDRATING WIPES

Kara’s Hydrating Refreshing Mint Oil and Aloe Vera Facial Wipes is just the thing.

These wipes are biodegradable and do not leave any residue behind on your face while cleaning. It is alcohol-free so does not dry out your skin. At the same time, the formulation helps in reducing oil. These are 100% paraben-free, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, and free from harmful chemicals.

3. Sun Damage

While working out outdoors, sun damage can wreak havoc on your skin as the length of exposure can be very high. Even if you feel that it is too early in the day, sun protectionmust not be missed. Look for a higher SPF with UVA-UVB, wide spectrum coverage, and wear clothing that covers your body well.

NEUTROGENA ULTRA SHEER DRY TOUCH SPF 50+

We recommend Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 50+. This lightweight formulation is non-comedogenic (does not cause acne). Has a light-weight, non-greasy finish and comes with the Helioplex technology that keeps the formulation stable for long hours in the sun, thereby providing for optimum protection. Long hours in the sun without protection can lead to early signs of aging apart from skin burns.

4. Body Acne

Remember that acne does not only affect the face but also the body. Conditions during a workout, moisture, oil, and dirt are perfect for acne-causing bacteria and yeast to thrive. If not protected, skin can be a breeding ground for infections. Coupled with clothes that stay moist for the large part of the workout, the conditions are worsened.

NIVEA CLAY HIBISCUS & GRAPE SHOWER GEL

We advise a special body wash that takes intensive care of the skin after such activities. The Nivea Clay Hibiscus and Grape Shower Gel have the benefits of natural clay that purifies skin while retaining moisture. It maintains the skin’s PH balance, for a squeaky clean yet moisturized feel.

Continued Skin Care

Generally, for someone who exercises regularly, skincare does not end after the post-workout shower. Due to increased blood circulation and perspiration levels that continue for a significant amount of time, the chances of breakouts continue for a long time. A skincare routine without a moisturizer is not advised, although care should be taken that it is lightweight and non-comedogenic.

PLUM MATTIFYING GREEN TEA MOISTURIZER

We suggest the Plum Mattifying Green tea Moisturizer. This matte finish moisturizer will make sure your skin is not shining when you step out. It is so lightweight that it can be used by people with oily skin as well. The tea tree oil is a good remedy for acne-causing bacteria, while the glycolic acid is excellent for sloughing off the dead cells and speeding up the skin renewal process.

We hope these tips help you enjoy your workout knowing there is nothing standing between you and the perfect skin to complement your health.
