Propyderm NF Cream 10 gm consists of three medicines, namely: Clobetasol (corticosteroid), Clotrimazole (antifungal) and Fusidic acid (antibacterial).
Clobetasol is a highly potent ‘corticosteroid’ with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic (relieves itching) and vasoconstrictive (narrows blood vessels) properties.
It blocks the production of chemical mediators of inflammation (such as kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes, and prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.
Clotrimazole is an ‘antifungal’ medication.
It is used to treat various fungal infections, such as vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush and ringworm.
Clotrimazole stops the growth of fungi by causing damage and leakage to the fungal cell membrane.
It is also used to treat athlete’s foot (fungal infection between the toes due to sweating) and jock itch (fungal infection in the skin of the genitals, inner thighs and buttocks).
On the other hand, Fusidic acid is an ‘antibacterial’ medication that prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital function.

Propyderm NF Cream should be used only for the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. This medicine contains clobetasol which when used in higher doses and for longer periods can get absorbed in the blood circulation and cause adrenal suppression and Cushing's syndrome. It can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and rounding of the face. Its application could cause a change in color of skin at the site of application. Veins beneath the skin become visible due to thinning and weakening of the skin. There could be an increased hair growth.
